Air India Express expands its network, including increased flights to Abu Dhabi, and offers generous baggage allowances, including extra for families with infants.

Air India Express is expanding its network and offering generous baggage allowances, particularly on the busy UAE-India air corridor

This corridor sees millions of residents and visitors traveling between the two countries annually.

The airline, owned by the Tata Group, currently operates approximately 450 weekly flights connecting 19 Indian cities with 13 destinations in the Middle East

It operates over 400 daily flights, a significant 30% increase compared to the same period last year.

Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) has identified Dubai as its top international destination, followed by Abu Dhabi in third place, holding 16% and 7% of the market share, respectively.

Air India Express is planning further expansion, aiming for over 50 destinations.

This includes adding Bangkok and Phuket in Thailand and increased access to Middle Eastern cities like Abu Dhabi, Dammam, Muscat, and Ras al-Khaimah

The airline’s growing fleet, projected to reach 100 aircraft this financial year, fuels this expansion.

The airline offers a free cabin baggage allowance of up to two pieces weighing a combined 7kg.

Passengers can also carry a laptop bag, handbag, or small backpack that fits under the seat.

Families traveling with infants receive an additional 10kg of free check-in baggage, bringing their total allowance to 47kg, including the 7kg cabin baggage.

For passengers traveling light, the Xpress Lite fare offers lower prices and includes a 3kg cabin baggage allowance.

Those needing check-in baggage can pre-book allowances of 15kg for domestic and 20kg for international flights at discounted rates.

Xpress Biz, the airline’s business class equivalent, provides a generous 40kg baggage allowance on international flights.
